The Malaysian government uses smart card technology in the identity cards carried by all Malaysian citizens and resident non-citizens. The personal information inside the smart card (called MyKad) can be read using special APDU commands.[8]
Because Bluetooth devices can connect to networks so easily, it’s important to be aware of security issues. If your Bluetooth network isn’t secure, then it might be possible for someone else to eavesdrop on you using another Bluetooth device. Most of the burden of Bluetooth security falls on the shoulders of electronics manufacturers, who can choose to produce devices that are secure or unsecured.
Like smart cards with contacts, contactless cards do not have a battery. Instead, they use a built-in inductor, using the principle of resonant inductive coupling, to capture some of the incident electromagnetic signal, rectify it, and use it to power the card’s electronics.

These aren’t the only choices. For example, Spark Pay is another offering. The service, which is part of Capital One, charges 2.70 percent per swipe or 3.70 percent for keyed-in transactions with no monthly fee. Pay a $9.95 monthly fee and swiped transactions are 1.95 percent, while keyed-in transactions are 2.95 percent.
Accept contactless payments and chip cards. The Square contactless and chip reader connects wirelessly to your iOS or Android device. Accept NFC transactions (like Apple Pay and Google Wallet) and EMV chip cards on the go, or add it to your Square Stand to complete your countertop.

Contactless EMV cards have two interfaces (contact and contactless) and work as a normal EMV card via their contact interface. The contactless interface provides similar data to a contact EMV transaction, but usually a subset of the capabilities (e.g. usually issuers will not allow balances to be increased via the contactless interface, instead requiring the card to be inserted into a device which uses the contact interface). EMV cards may carry an “offline balance” stored in their chip, similar to the electronic wallet or “purse” that users of transit smart cards are used to.
There are two broad categories of contactless smart cards. Memory cards contain non-volatile memory storage components, and perhaps some specific security logic. Contactless smart cards contain read-only RFID called CSN (Card Serial Number) or UID, and a re-writeable smart card microchip that can be transcribed via radio waves.
Set up is pretty much straightforward. You download the app (Squre Register-POS), you’ll need your Business Account // Personal Account along with routing number. Zip Code, name, address, social security and what not. Pretty much what a bank would ask you. Once your account is linked, it will ask you if you want them to send you their product or if you already got it. I thought the product was going to be sent for free, but it was charging me another $50, so i wanted to cancel and it didn’t give me that option. I still have to check with customer service about that. In the meanwhile i just put “charge me later” or something along the lines.
If you accept credit card payments from your customers at your place of business, you’ll want a receipt printer. A receipt printer automatically prints a receipt for your customer when they make a purchase.
Bluetooth is usually used for transferring files between mobile devices as well as streaming audio from mobile phones to wireless headsets and headphones. For a while Bluetooth was also a popular technology for wireless printing, especially for printing photos from mobile phones.
Mobile POS systems like Square and iZettle are changing the way businesses think about point of sale systems. Even established retailers and businesses can take advantage of mPOS systems connected to a wireless printer and rethink the point of sale part of the sales process.

We purchased this printer because of its network capability. In our office we have a POS laptop, that gets used at multiple desks. With the network feature, as long as the laptop is logged in to wifi, this printer works flawlessly. We did have a little issue getting it configured properly, but that was before I contacted the company. I simply visited their website, requested help, and within 30 minutes the printer worked perfectly… So while the printer is great, the service was phenomenal…
In many cases the type of printer supported is determined by the application of your choice. Each Application Developer has decided to strategically support certain printer types. However many of them allow you to pick between these three major connectivity types.
@usascottwright – While we don’t currently support Epson printers, it’s definitely a popular feature request. I’ll update this thread if that changes in the future! Also, apologies for the delay in following up with you.

Bluetooth Nightmare. I shelled out a bunch of cash to be able to use the Bluetooth printer with my iPAD/Square Register system. Initially it was a pain in the neck to connect to and it would randomly drop the connection. After a couple months the printer stopped connecting. Very disappointed in this product. When you pay $400 plus for a printer you should expect it to work as it is stated. I would not recommend by this product. You will be embarrassed in front of your customer when the printer fails you. It could severely impact your reputation and business when your less experience techy people are trying to reconnect the printer and you will be sadly disappointed in a couple months when it finally fails to connect just like the other reviews stated.
You could be sitting in an Internet café in Sydney, for example, and send some photos to your printer at home, so your family can see what you’ve been up to on your travels. Or you could be at your office a few miles from your house and print out your boarding pass for a flight you have to catch later, so it’s ready for you to pick up when you get home.
There are dual-interface cards that implement contactless and contact interfaces on a single card with some shared storage and processing. An example is Porto’s multi-application transport card, called Andante, that uses a chip in contact and contactless (ISO/IEC 14443 type B) mode.
