Contactless technology does not necessarily prevent use of a PIN for authentication of the user, but it is common for low value transactions (bank credit or debit card purchase, or public transport fare payment) not to require a PIN. This may make such cards more likely to be stolen, or used fraudulently by the finder of someone else’s lost card.
The advantage of this is that you can print from any mobile device that has email support, without having to install any extra driver software or apps. There are email printing services available from companies such as Kodak, HP and Xerox.
You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.
The standard for contactless smart card communications is ISO/IEC 14443. It defines two types of contactless cards (“A” and “B”) and allows for communications at distances up to 10 cm (3.9 in). There had been proposals for ISO/IEC 14443 types C, D, E, F and G that have been rejected by the International Organization for Standardization. An alternative standard for contactless smart cards is ISO/IEC 15693, which allows communications at distances up to 50 cm (1.6 ft).
Not all phones that have Bluetooth onboard support Bluetooth printing, so it’s worth checking your phone’s manual before investing in a Bluetooth-enabled printer. Nevertheless, Bluetooth printing is a handy feature if your phone doesn’t support Wi-Fi, as it lets you print snaps from your phone without having to hook up any cables, or first transfer your snaps to a PC.
In addition, the MP300’s compact contemporary design doesn’t compromise on printing performance. This printer is ideal for printing traffic citations, utility invoices, rental car receipts, etc. Chara…
Smart cards can be physically disassembled by using acid, abrasives, or some other technique to obtain direct, unrestricted access to the on-board microprocessor. Although such techniques obviously involve a fairly high risk of permanent damage to the chip, they permit much more detailed information (e.g. photomicrographs of encryption hardware) to be extracted.
Fully mobile receipt printers are very useful for on the go receipt printing applications such as deliveries, conventions, or craft fairs. These mobile printers generally use receipt paper that is 2 inches wide with a smaller core. Check the printer accessories for compatible thermal receipt paper.

Just wanted to update this thread with a solution I came across that could work for your multi-page print issue. When you are at your print preview page, there should be a Scale option available (it’s hiding under “More Settings” on Chrome/”More Details” on Safari or Firefox). Reducing the Scale below 100 will reduce the size of the image and you can keep lowering it until it reaches the size you’re looking for.
This is an impact printer. So it makes a noise when it prints. Why would you want this? You might want it if you are in an area such as a kitchen where thermal paper receipts don’t print as well because of moisture in the area. You would not want this noise around customers. But if you have a moist area such as a busy kitchen this printer may be what you can use. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SP742ML.
USB receipt printers are commonly used. They will save you a few dollars. USB printers connect to Android devices via a USB OTG (On-The-Go) adaptor. Make sure your device supports USB OTG or USB Host mode.
@SSmobile @Kevin7 – I went ahead and moved both of your comments over to the thread where we are tracking this feature request. I totally understand your frustration and desire for Epson support. They make a mean printer that is also a fraction of the cost of most Star printers. I have personally passed this feedback along to our product team, and expanding compatibility is something that is top of mind for them. I’ll update this thread if/when this functionality is added in the future!

Look for the bar code stickers on your printer. The Serial number on a Samsung printer can be used wherever an HP serial number is requested. Samsung printers refer to a ‘product number’ as a ‘model code’ designated with ‘M/C’, and typically start with ‘SL-_’.
It was too good to be true for too long. Square, the innovative start-up that turned smartphones into credit card processors just killed its flat fees for small companies, effective in February. Instead of charging $275 for up to $21,000 in monthly transactions, the company is moving to a 2.75 percent swipe fee, or 3.5 percent plus $0.15 for each manually entered transaction.

This is the answer for vendors at Farmer’s Markets, craft shows, etc. Armed with the Paypal app , this receipt printer and a cash drawer that opens with a signal from the printer and a Goal Zero Yeti 400 I can run all day print receipts, kick the cash drawer AND run a 12V and a USB fan for a little air movement on 20% of the battery pack’s capacity. Blue tooth synching has worked every time, turn on the printer, open the iPad, open the app and, voila, there it is. The printer connects immediately upon waking the iPad during a lull in the action. This will add a level of professionalism to your booth, makes you look like a serious vendor.
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !

If I am at a venue where I have no power access, I still use the dock/charging station because it positions the reader for easy use. I do not put the locking piece on the top of the dock, because I do have to take the reader out & wake it up if it goes too long between uses. The on/off button on the reader is on the bottom; it is covered and unreachable when it is in the dock. That is a bit inconvenient, but if it prolong the battery life I am ok with it. Leaving the locking end off makes the reader easy to remove when necessary.
If you operate a mobile food cart or food truck, THIS is the receipt printer you want. In all Honesty, it took me more time to read through the manual than it did to connect to my Ipad. For the record, I am using this receipt printer with Square Register.

A quickly growing application is in digital identification cards. In this application, the cards are used for authentication of identity. The most common example is in conjunction with a PKI. The smart card will store an encrypted digital certificate issued from the PKI along with any other relevant or needed information about the card holder. Examples include the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC), and the use of various smart cards by many governments as identification cards for their citizens. When combined with biometrics, smart cards can provide two- or three-factor authentication. Smart cards are not always a privacy-enhancing technology, for the subject carries possibly incriminating information about him all the time. By employing contactless smart cards, that can be read without having to remove the card from the wallet or even the garment it is in, one can add even more authentication value to the human carrier of the cards.
Before you can print via Bluetooth you first have to setup an initial connection between your phone and printer using a process known as pairing. Usually this involves putting your printer into ‘Discovery Mode’ via its Bluetooth menu, and then starting a search for other Bluetooth devices on your phone. Once your phone finds the printer, you then have to enter a four-digit passcode to establish the connection.
Bluetooth is usually used for transferring files between mobile devices as well as streaming audio from mobile phones to wireless headsets and headphones. For a while Bluetooth was also a popular technology for wireless printing, especially for printing photos from mobile phones.
The function of Bluetooth 4.0 supports Android, iOS and Windows, and you can print data conveniently from your device wirelessly. The printer is portable, good connection and long battery life, and ca…
No matter what you pick, be scrupulous in reading all the information available as there are various little limitations and special conditions that you might run into. For example, rewards cards, corporate cards, and certain other types may not qualify for the cheaper swiped processing rates. So, before you go with anything, read all the fine print.
The best part about this package is that each one comes with both a regular card swiper and a chip reader square. This is great since so many cards are now going to chip but you still need a swiper for regular cards.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Square said customer feedback claimed that flat monthly fees inhibited growth. Although you could argue that, mathematically, limiting sales to avoid additional processing costs might make sense, depending on your business volume and margins, it’s hard to imagine any entrepreneur passing on growth to game credit card fees.
