2. USB Connection: If the cash drawer is connected via USB cable to the Square Stand: When you accept a cash payment, tap “Tender” from Square Register and your cash drawer will open automatically (If you’ve enabled PIN protection, you will need to provide the passcode).

** If you are using the Square Register app, this is the USB version of the Star TSP654II Printer and must be used with the Square Stand Hardware. You will need a Star ethernet or bluetooth printer if you are using Square or a similar Point of Sale app with the tablet or device by itself.

At just 10cm high and 30cm wide the mPOP is compact enough for any retail or hospitality application. The Bluetooth connectivity means only one mains cable is needed for full operation. USB connectivity ports are neatly positioned at the back of the unit offering quick and easy access for additional scanners, customer displays and other peripherals.

Why use a Square Receipt Printer? If you’re using Square payments or alternatives to Square you may want to consider getting some additional equipment to help you make sales to customers. Some equipment that you may want to consider are additional card readers, ipad stands, barcode readers. But the main thing we recommend is a square receipt printer. A Square receipt printer generates a receipt after you swipe your customer’s credit card on your smartphone. It’s a great way to advertise your business and your website.

Clover: In addition to the Clover Station, Clover also offers the Clover Mobile, which works in conjunction with the Station, but is a full featured POS in itself. The Clover Mobile is a more complex machine that expands the POS system into the palm of a hand. A great option for restaurants who want to have servers take additional customer orders at their tables, have the Mobile send the receipt to the kitchen, and accept payment.

Square Register on an iPad is compatible with a wide variety of third-party hardware accessories. Below, you’ll find the best supported Star Micronics Receipt Printer for Square, ability to purchase, and information on getting set up.

Within both apps, you can add or change items in your inventory. Entering item information is straightforward, and you can edit item name, cost, barcode or SKU, tax, and more. Both apps allow you to add and sort items into categories (such as “Drinks”, “Desserts”, or “Sandwiches”). They both offer the option to add item variations to products (such as different sizes or colors), as well as add modifiers to products, such as different condiments, flavors, etc. These item modifiers and variations can be used in a variety of ways. For instance, if you sell coffee, you can set up variations for each size of coffee you offer and modifiers for add-ons to the coffee, such as add soy milk or vanilla flavor. Below is an example of the same transaction in Square and PayPal Here, with multiple variations and product modifiers (click images to expand).

For the most part, Square with a reader is only compatible with wireless hardware, primarily Ethernet, Bluetooth, or WiFi devices. The Square Stand, however, includes a USB hub, which allows you to use USB interface hardware. USB hardware tends to be cheaper than wireless hardware. See a cost breakdown below:

Important: You do not need to put any information into the “Bluetooth Adress” field When setting up a Bluetooth SM-S220i or 650II printer. If you get a printer not found error, check and make sure that this field is empty.

Avoid this store at all cost. The prices on the shelves rarely match what is programmed into the cash register, which is always higher. Either the employees can’t put the prices where the correct items are, or this is outright fraud by the management. This happened on my last three visits. For example, a stack of 2017 date books had a price of $12.99 on the shelf sticker. At the register, it was $25.99 — but “on sale today for $19.99.” Pass.

As one of the most popular mPOS solutions for the iPad, Square can be found across all types of businesses. The amount of time the paper lasts in your printer depends on your sales. If you’re making hundreds of sales per day then you’ll be replacing the roll of paper a couple times a month. That’s not bad. Paper rolls for your printer are pretty cheap.

I would love this, it does work great with my square stand. However, they never sent me a key to access my register if the power goes out, or for any other reason. They sent me out multiple keys and they wouldn’t work, and then i couldn’t get a hold of them any more. So i still do not have a register that works properly, and if there are any issues I am going to have to hire a lock smith on top of the cost of this.

Any article weighing either Square or PayPal Here would be remiss to not mention the negative reviews on both sides. Both have received reports of freezing accounts or funds without warning and inconsistent customer service, and PayPal Here has received many reports of holding funds over $500. Getting Square phone support requires a case number, and in order to get a case number, you must have an active account (which becomes a problem if your account is deactivated). PayPal Here has more easily accessible phone support, but also users report that customer support was unable to resolve their issues. While we don’t believe that these reviews are enough to dissuade you from using either, they are something to keep in mind when making a decision.
