A second thing to keep in mind is the Square Stand is not exclusively compatible with USB hardware; it’s also compatible with all of the same wireless hardware as Square with a reader. If you’re interested in using the Square Stand and also want wireless hardware, either to future-proof your business or for more mobility, that’s an option you can consider (although the Square Stand may be a bit excessive, see below for other stand options). This also means you can add on wireless hardware to your Square Stand in addition to your USB hardware, like an Ethernet kitchen printer or Bluetooth barcode scanner.
The Square Point of Sale app and PayPal Here app are both available for free in the App Store and the Google Play Store. PayPal Here is also available in the Microsoft app store. PayPal Here works with iPhones and iPads running iOS 7.0 or later, Android smartphones and tablets running Android 4.0 or later, and Windows smartphones and tablets running Windows 8.1 or later.
I need to now this information because we are moving our store to a bigger location. Since we have to build everything from scratch I need to make sure there are enough electricity plugins in our counter.

A Square Stand on the counter is a thing of beauty. Its design is elegant, sophisticated, and efficient, plus it’s got some pretty cool features that make it even better. For starters its got a built in reader so you don’t have to plug anything else into the iPad to take a credit card payment. Just dock the iPad to the stand, plug it all in, secure it and you’re ready to go. And speaking of good looking, what you put into that stand isn’t all that bad either, we won’t waste any more time going on and on about how well designed the iPad actually is, you know it already…in fact its probably one of the reasons you want one on your counter. You’re going to look better than most of the businesses on the block.
The Star Micronics TSP143IIILAN works with Square Payments. Star Micronics is a well known manufacturer of receipt printers. They make many different models. You connect to a Square iPad stand with a USB cable. This receipt printer uses 80 mm width or 3 1/8 inch width thermal paper for the receipts. There is a roll of paper that ships with the receipt printer. An auto cutter mechanism cuts the receipt paper for you when you make a sale.
I just spent almost an hour waiting for a delivery, that was signed off and delivered last night, in this location. They couldn’t find it. I watched as several staple workers looked for it in the SAME location.. As if it was magically going to appear. Finally the supervisor/manager says we’ll just give you one off the shelf. It was a 20 count pack of toilet tissue…. Really… It took you almost 45 mins to figure that out.. Ridiculous… Staff is ghetto. I will NEVER use this Staples again.
The price on these is as competitive as anywhere else. They perform as expected. As is the case with other sources of thermal paper, there always seems to be a lot of paper left on the roll when they are “finished!”
If you’re rewards information’s is taken at the register, when you go to register the plan, it uses your rewards numbers and then autofills all of the information, “automagically” registering it. You still need to go to the website though.

Square: With Square Stand, merchants download the Square Register app, which is the all in one POS. Within the app, users are able to manage payments, reporting, etc. One downfall of this type of system is that merchants only have the business management tools Square builds into the app.

With intuitive top loading and easy front feed, the high quality 58mm Star thermal printer is simple to operate and does not need ribbons or toner while the integrated cash drawer provides a number of note and coin configurations. Once paired with your tablet or device, you can instantly process customer transactions and print receipts. The built in mPOP LED display will quickly let you know power and pairing status as well as if the mPOP needs a new paper roll.
Pay Pal says this is compatible, but the few reps I have spoken with are not really familiar enough to guide me through. My LG Optimus phone runs T-Mobile 4g. I connected stand alone router(LAN?) to printer. I am guessing there is a conflict and I need to disconnect 4g or whatever wifi is connected to phone in order to pick-up signal from LAN router, assuming I can’t receive two simultaneous signals. That would disconnect me from Pay Pal transaction. Don’t know what I missing, but so far it’s a lot of wasted time and money. There’s no customer service that I can find with printer and the user guide is scant. I’ll take another look at Star website, but don’t expect to find a solution there. A USB connection would have likely prevented many issues/
Square Register Star TSP100III Thermal Receipt Printer with Auto-Cut, Ethernet Interface 10/100BaseT (LAN), Internal Power Supply, Includes TSP143IIILAN, Power Cable, Ethernet Interface Cable, Mounting Kit, Paper Roll, Dark Grey Color – TSP143IIILAN GY US – 39464910
I recently ran into a situation where I had multiple vendors — all using individual Square accounts — that needed to be able to receipts from a centralized receipt printer. I discovered that it’s possible if you have right printer. Let me show you how this is done, so you can avoid the confusion and headache of having to solve this issue on your own.
I have a friend who runs a small shop and knew the [[ASIN:B00O7AFGH6 Esky ES-CD01 Heavy Duty RJ-12 Key-Lock Cash Drawer]] would be perfect for his application. This drawer was a massive upgrade to the system he had been using. He had tried other drawers with different connections and designs, however this one was really the best.
Square is not interested in using anyone but Star. And their attitude is that they frankly don’t care. I know, I have emails from them about it. If I was to guess, I would bet they have a deal with Star that funds their (insert pizza parties, to silk pockets). But lets be realistic. I mean it has to be something viable, right? The fact that Star uses the same print protocals that Epson uses has no bearing on an Epson receipt printer not working. It goes in the same line as Android devices can’t use bluetooth devices… although that new chip reader is bluetooth. It is a lack of customer service and they need to step up to the plate, or someone is going to come along and take their business away from them.
We recommend using the Square contactless and chip reader for a fast, seamless payment experience on all devices – not just those without a headphone jack. To accept magstripe-only cards, or gift cards, we recommend using the Apple Lightning to Headphone Jack adapter (included with the iPhone 7) to connect your Square magstripe reader. You might also try a third party USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter, but please note that Square has not officially tested compatibility between the magstripe reader and other third party adapters.
Square is officially compatible with certain APG and Star Micronics brand printer driven cash drawers. Printer driven cash drawers must be hooked up to a receipt printer that is compatible with Square in order to work properly.
You can use any of our Square Compatible Receipt Printers with the Square Stand Hardware, this setup has the most options to choose from. It just depends how you want to connect to the Square Stand and how many stations you have. If you are connecting straight to the Square Stand via the USB hub, or with Bluetooth we offer the following Thermal Printers for printing Credit Card Receipts :
Yep! And in fact, they’re one and the same; TSP143III is the model number of the TSP 100 (which is admittedly pretty confusing.) For example, you can see the printer has TSP100 printed on it physically, but it’s technically the ‘STAR MICRONICS TSP143IIILAN.’
Important: You do not need to put any information into the “Bluetooth Adress” field When setting up a Bluetooth SM-S220i or 650II printer. If you get a printer not found error, check and make sure that this field is empty.
Square has a specific Online Store feature, with multiple options for store set up. You can set up a basic online store through Square, set up a website through Square’s partners, or use Square’s APIs to accept payments directly from your previously existing online store (which requires custom programming).
Setting up different locations with PayPal Here is possible, but there aren’t any specific features for it. To add a second location, you can either set up a second user account as a second location, or if you already have multiple user accounts, they can simply be accessed from multiple locations. Your inventory and pricing will be the same across all accounts, and there’s no way to make location-specific changes.
Wall Mountable: Need more counter space? Create more room by mounting the printer to the wall. The future PRNT Configuration Utility allows for Text Reversal so the receipt is printed to face the user.
As a bluetooth only device, it is a bit glitchy. If you are wanting to use it with a phone/tablet only as a standalone device, look elsewhere. The miura m010 reader works great for this, though is unfortunately not available on amazon.
EOM-POS Heavy Duty Cash Register Money Drawer + Mounting Brackets for Under Counter Installation. Compatible with Square Stand [Receipt Printer Required]. Built in cable to connect to receipt printer.
As we mentioned, the biggest difference between using Square with a reader and the Square Stand is hardware compatibility, which mainly includes using receipt printers and barcode scanners. This can also include cash drawers, but they generally connect to your device via receipt printer. If you’d like to use a cash drawer, see our note on cash drawers below. If you’re not planning on using any hardware at all with Square, the Square Stand isn’t really necessary and you may want to consider a cheaper stand (more on that below).
Went to print out some stuff after work only to discover that this particular Staples is trapped in 1998 with painfully outdated computers, a prehistoric version of Internet Explorer and dial-up speed internet that worked maybe 40% of time for the 10 minutes I was there. Do you think nobody in this city has a goddamn Gmail account, Staples? DO YOU?
