Over the last few years Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technology has started appearing in printers too.
I bought this to work with my Lightspeed POS system. I checked the list of systems it would not work with and it was not on there. I inserted the so called “Installation Disk” and it was just a handful of random pictures. There was a girl in a field and some flowers. There were no other instructions. When I plugged it in ,y laptop starting installing it, it showed up on my printers but as a local usb and when I would try to print from it, it would not show up on the printers list. I tried to call the actual company that makes the printers and unless you use their POS system they will not help you. I have tried several printer to try to get them to work and it has been a nightmare. I would not suggest buying this printer unless you are using the revel systems POS.

Use Cases for USB: USB Printers are mainly used for directly connecting the Printer to a PC or a Stand with a USB Port. This connection is very uncommon in the mPOS ecosystem right now. Main users of this style printer will be connecting to a Square Stand.
This is an impact printer. So it makes a noise when it prints. Why would you want this? You might want it if you are in an area such as a kitchen where thermal paper receipts don’t print as well because of moisture in the area. You would not want this noise around customers. But if you have a moist area such as a busy kitchen this printer may be what you can use. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SP742ML.
Before you can print via Bluetooth you first have to setup an initial connection between your phone and printer using a process known as pairing. Usually this involves putting your printer into ‘Discovery Mode’ via its Bluetooth menu, and then starting a search for other Bluetooth devices on your phone. Once your phone finds the printer, you then have to enter a four-digit passcode to establish the connection.
When two Bluetooth enabled devices connect to each other, this is called pairing. The structure and the global acceptance of Bluetooth technology means any Bluetooth enabled device, almost everywhere in the world, can connect to other Bluetooth enabled devices located in proximity to one another.
Hi this is Travis with POSGuys.com. Today we’re taking a relook at a video we created a couple years ago. This is the TM-T88V and this is the new version of the T20 ReadyPrint, the T202 or T20II however you want to call it. The print speed has been increased on this but also some internal changing has been done on the printer. The printer can print a lot faster than it used to be. Take a look at our older video where we compared the print speed from the 88V to the original T20. You can see a significant slow down whenever this had to print heavy graphics. So in that original video there was like a black bar that would print every other line and that black bar really caused this printer to slow down. The T20II has been upgraded so that is no longer the case. The speed prints like you would expect it to print which is slower than the 88V but not significantly slower.

Edit to say that the network issues I mentioned were tied to the wireless router we were using. Replaced that piece and the printer started working great. I still recommend purchasing as a package for better price and customer service, but not a bad piece of equipment.

After the pairing process is completed, your phone and printer will remember this passcode so you won’t need to enter it again. When you want to print from your phone, you’ll simply need to be within Bluetooth range of your printer, call up the photo you want to print and then choose the Bluetooth option. This is usually available in your phone’s photo gallery, where you select ‘Send To’, or something similar. Then you select Bluetooth as the transfer method and choose your printer as the target device.
AirPrint doesn’t really require any setup, because as long as your printer and iOS device are connected to the same network they will automatically find each other. All you have to do is select the Print option in iOS, tap the ‘Select Printer’ button and then choose your printer from the list. Next you simply select the number of copies you want and press print. That’s it — it really couldn’t be easier.
Bright colors, durable prints: The HP Sprocket Photo Printer prints without ink, so the second your prints leave the printer, they’re smudge-proof, water-resistant, tear-resistant and ready to be shared and handled.
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !

Expanding the number of ways that you accept payment from customers is a simple way to boost the growth of your small business. This Square card reader allows you to process both card-based and wireless, NFC transactions, so your clients can pay you in the format that makes them comfortable.
Beware of this device! I have been using Square for years successfully (swiper unit plug in). I received this unit as a present, and was excited to try it out. I set it up at home, double checked that it was connected by bluetooth, and ran several successful practice charges. I took it to an art show this past weekend, and following the EXACT same instructions linked the reader to my phone via bluetooth. After inserting the customers card into the unit, after each and every sale my phone indicated “Transaction Complete”. I returned to the square menu and checked that the proper amount was listed for each transaction. I had just short of $2000 in credit/debit card sales. 3 days later when no money had transferred into my banking account I called square. Seems the contactless and chip card reader wasn’t properly synced with my phone (even though my phone indicated the reader WAS connected via bluetooth) and was not operating correctly. It didn’t capture a single complete credit card number. Im not sure if this reader works properly without also purchasing the charging dock. Im not the first person this has happened to. According to Square they are not responsible and Im on my own. 10 of 40 customers requested electronic receipts. Square reached out to them . As of today I have heard from 1 of the 10. I wish I had never used this reader. It’s fussy — and it doesn’t tell you when there is a problem with a transaction. I learned a hard lesson (which cost me just short of $2K. Never again.
Buying this combo and getting each Square POS piece individually was much cheaper than buying it from Square as part of their whole POS system. Plus, we were able to get our entire Square system in matching white. Cash box plugs into printer with a cable that looks like a phone cable, so it doesn’t require a USB port.
HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One. Let your creativity soar while keeping printing costs low. Connect your smartphone or tablet directly to your printer—and easily print without accessing a network. HP Printer Software.
Compatibility with applications and programs are dependent on the software and application developer. Typically, with windows programs, if you can specify a windows printer and the software uses the matching emulation, then a Bluetooth receipt printer will work just as well as a USB printer. For iOS and Android applications, it is a bit more complex and you will need to check with your app developer to determine app compatibility. In many apps rather than selecting an installed printer it will be looking for a specific Bluetooth device, if your printer is not that exact match then it will not recognize the printer as being available for that software.
HP Smart App:Our most powerful printing APP ever – The HP Smart app allows you to easily set up your wireless printer, scan documents with your camera, and print from social media or the cloud, such as iCloud, Google Drive, and Dropbox
My square contactless + chip reader won’t charge from a USB cable. I can get it to charge for 2-3 seconds of I wiggle the cable, but it then stops charging. I’d also like to point out a design flaw in this reader and that is that it won’t allow a micro usb cord to seat properly due to the micro usb port not being deep enough.
Epson’s iPrint supports printing of a range of different file formats from your phone or tablet, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files. Naturally, it also lets you print photos and scan documents.
You can enable Google Cloud Printing on other printers by downloading the Google Chrome browser. Your printer will need to communicate to the cloud service via your PC, however, so your computer always needs to be on for the service to work with these non-cloud ready printers.

We’ll do another speed test here. So what we did is we setup both of these printers as kitchen printers. We’re going to just add a bunch of items to the order. So as you can see the 88V still printed faster but not so much faster that this would be a hindrance. So definitely an improvement on the T20 versus the older model. The price is about the same as the T20II as it was for the original T20. One big change on it is that the power supply used to be internal on the T20 and it is now external on the T20II. So there is a little brick that you’ll have to hide somewhere under your counter or under a table. Something like that. Before it was just a single cord. Which actually can be a good thing should a power supply fail you can replace it where before it was internal so once that power supply failed then your printer would have to be replaced.
The growing popularity of smart phones and tablets has meant that more and more of us want to be able to print directly from our mobile devices, rather than having to sync photos and files with a PC when we want to produce hard copies. Thankfully, printer manufacturers have cottoned on to this and now all the major brands have produced their own free smart phone and tablet printing apps.
With so many receipt printers on the market, it’s hard to know which one will support your software while giving you the best return on your investment. Thankfully, we have researched and reviewed these printers, testing them against software packages, and have determined that these are the best receipt printers in their class. From impact printing for kitchens and dry cleaners, to fast retail receipt printers for customer checkout, these printers will give you the best experience at your business.
The final option is to configure your printer by first connecting it to your computer via USB. Some people may find this option easier than the second method, as it can often be a bit fiddly to enter long Wi-Fi passwords using your printer’s basic controls.
So when i ordered, it was advertised with the Square thingy + card swipe adapter. It did come with both, in box that looks more like the apple company made it. The products itself looks from apple. Quality seems good, sturdy, I just like the feel I don’t have to worry of grabbing it too hard and break it.
Overall, this is a great printer. I can’t complain about the price because for similar thermal printers, this is relatively cheap. Any cheaper and there are issues with printing mechanics and whatnot.
The easiest option is to use WPS if your router and printer both support it. With WPS you don’t have to know your network’s name (or SSID as it’s officially known) or password. Instead you simply select the WPS option on your printer via its control panel and then press the WPS button on your wireless router. The two devices will then automatically communicate with each other to establish the connection. Once the connection is set up, you just install the driver software from your printer’s installation CD-ROM on all the PCs in the network that will be used for printing.
