I am new to Square. I would like to print receipts from my iPad, but the printers on the Square web site cost over $300. I found that I could print a receipt from the web-based customer portal if I am using my PC or Mac. However, the receipt prints on two pages since there is a small icon at the bottom that carries over to the second page. I will have to carefully set the printer to print just one page every time I print a receipt for our event.

Bluetooth printers have an emulation type like most desktop printers, so the receipt format and capabilities of the printer are tied to that emulation. The most popular emulations are Epson emulation and Star Emulation.
Wi-Fi enabled printers have a number of advantages, as once you connect your printer into your home network you can share it with the various devices in your home. It lets you print a business document from your bedroom, print a photo from your smart phone in the lounge, or print a birthday card made by your kids via the tablet in the kitchen.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Square said customer feedback claimed that flat monthly fees inhibited growth. Although you could argue that, mathematically, limiting sales to avoid additional processing costs might make sense, depending on your business volume and margins, it’s hard to imagine any entrepreneur passing on growth to game credit card fees.

Why, for God’s sakes, can we not have a receipt that takes up a single page instead of three pages??? I’ve been a customer of square-enabled businesses for at least 4 years, and Square hasn’t come up with a solution for this? I saw where someone asked this question in April but didn’t get any responses. Please, please, please? Is there some setting that everyone else in America is using, but I’m not? Please help me.
WIFI: WIFI is a local area wireless technology that allows an electronic device to exchange data or connect to the internet using 2.4 GHz UHF and 5 GHz SHF radio waves. This allows your device to connect wirelessly to a network.
As is to be expected in the fast-changing technological environment, there are a range of mobile receipt printers available on the market thanks to the innovative work of a couple of companies that specialize in manufacturing portable mobile printers.
Beware of this device! I have been using Square for years successfully (swiper unit plug in). I received this unit as a present, and was excited to try it out. I set it up at home, double checked that it was connected by bluetooth, and ran several successful practice charges. I took it to an art show this past weekend, and following the EXACT same instructions linked the reader to my phone via bluetooth. After inserting the customers card into the unit, after each and every sale my phone indicated “Transaction Complete”. I returned to the square menu and checked that the proper amount was listed for each transaction. I had just short of $2000 in credit/debit card sales. 3 days later when no money had transferred into my banking account I called square. Seems the contactless and chip card reader wasn’t properly synced with my phone (even though my phone indicated the reader WAS connected via bluetooth) and was not operating correctly. It didn’t capture a single complete credit card number. Im not sure if this reader works properly without also purchasing the charging dock. Im not the first person this has happened to. According to Square they are not responsible and Im on my own. 10 of 40 customers requested electronic receipts. Square reached out to them . As of today I have heard from 1 of the 10. I wish I had never used this reader. It’s fussy — and it doesn’t tell you when there is a problem with a transaction. I learned a hard lesson (which cost me just short of $2K. Never again.

Not all phones that have Bluetooth onboard support Bluetooth printing, so it’s worth checking your phone’s manual before investing in a Bluetooth-enabled printer. Nevertheless, Bluetooth printing is a handy feature if your phone doesn’t support Wi-Fi, as it lets you print snaps from your phone without having to hook up any cables, or first transfer your snaps to a PC.
There are two main types of printers: inkjet and direct thermal printers. Direct thermal printing is where an image is printed on special thermal paper as it passes over the thermal print head, which turns the paper black, producing the image. Inkjet printers create an image by spraying the ink onto the paper to create the image. The majority of smaller portable mobile receipt printers operate using direct thermal printing.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. The Square reader is super simple and easy to use. It is an especially good tool for small business owners who want to accept additional forms of payments(such as credit or debit cards) Additionally, the app on the google play store was easy to find and very straightforward. One downside, although somewhat expected are the fees associated with it. For example, 2.75 percent for credit card transactions. Other than that, I recommend this product for it’s simplicity and overall use. 4/5 stars.
Strong performance, reliable, a must have! We use square pos have no problems, kitchen tickets life saver! Tickets printed from are iPad mini within 2 seconds, no problems with Bluetooth connection, now are printer is only 3 feet away from iPad maybe that helps. Been using this printer for about two years, will never go back to hand written order tickets! Well worth the price!!!!!
The price is right but the result is even better! they are reliable and they get the job done. I was going to buy some other ones in the $400 price tag, I think these work just as well, if not better. I love them!
When two or more contactless cards are in close proximity the system may have difficulty determining which card is intended to be used. The card-reader may charge the incorrect card or reject both.[10] This is generally only an issue where a service provider uses a payment card to facilitate access – eg a wallet containing a parking lot access card, an apartment building entry card and various contactless payment cards can usually be used on entry to a car park or whatever – the car park entry system can detect its own card in the wallet and open the barrier. In a retail shop, however, it is advisable to remove the individual contactless card from the wallet when making a payment. At the very least this gives the cardholder the opportunity to communicate which card they intend to be used to make payment. It is an issue of the card identifying a subscription -v- payment by transaction.[clarification needed]
Unlike IrDA, Bluetooth signals aren’t dependent upon line of sight. Bluetooth networks can extend beyond walls, doors and even different levels of a building. As long as the devices are within range, they can interact. Bluetooth devices can transmit data at a rate of up to 3 Mbps to other Bluetooth devices in range [source: Bluetooth].
Look for the bar code stickers on your printer. The Serial number on a Samsung printer can be used wherever an HP serial number is requested. Samsung printers refer to a ‘product number’ as a ‘model code’ designated with ‘M/C’, and typically start with ‘SL-_’.
