The Square Stand is cool, it easily swivels around so that your customers can sign right the screen and the software allows you to email them a personalized receipt, but we’re guessing that you’d like the option of handing your customers a physical receipt too. Just like the cash drawer, a USB receipt printer can get plugged right into the Square Stand USB hub and you’re printer will be operational in no time. Other setups often require that the cash drawer be hooked to the printer and the printer get plugged into the wireless router, not with the square stand and USB setup. And one more thing, if you’re worried about all that printer ink you’re going to need, don’t be. The USB printer that we’re talking about is a thermal printer; it doesn’t need ink. Seriously, no ink, just thermal paper which is easy to find at most office supply stores or can be ordered directly from us.

Your printer settings are tied to the USB port on the hardware hub where you initially connected the printer. If you unplug your receipt printer from the hub, be sure to take note of the port number for future reference.

This is an impact printer. So it makes a noise when it prints. Why would you want this? You might want it if you are in an area such as a kitchen where thermal paper receipts don’t print as well because of moisture in the area. You would not want this noise around customers. But if you have a moist area such as a busy kitchen this impact printer may be what you can use. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SP742ML.

Any article weighing either Square or PayPal Here would be remiss to not mention the negative reviews on both sides. Both have received reports of freezing accounts or funds without warning and inconsistent customer service, and PayPal Here has received many reports of holding funds over $500. Getting Square phone support requires a case number, and in order to get a case number, you must have an active account (which becomes a problem if your account is deactivated). PayPal Here has more easily accessible phone support, but also users report that customer support was unable to resolve their issues. While we don’t believe that these reviews are enough to dissuade you from using either, they are something to keep in mind when making a decision.

Square is priced at 2.75% per card swipe (and 3.5% + 15 cents per manually entered transaction), which is comparable to similar point of sale apps, like PayPal Here. See Square’s website for more details.

I’m interested in eliminating some cables in my restaurant so I’ve been researching Star’s Wireless printers. Is the Star Micronics TSP143IIIW printer compatible with my Square POS app? My current printer is located pretty far away from my wireless router so I’m trying to find a non-ethernet option.

POS printers and accessories also give you the ability to provide a proof of purchase for each transaction. A printed receipt can greatly assist with returns or exchanges at a later date. To keep your printers printing, use high-quality POS paper.

kWh = 195(This is if you printed 12 hours per day and left the printer idle for 12 hours a day for 365 days a year. Even if you printed continuously for 24 hours per day, 365 days a year you would use 333 kWh per year, which is still way less than a new inkjet printer.)

Although Square only lists a few Honeywell and Zebra scanners as compatible with the Square Stand, we tested a number of USB interface Honeywell and Zebra scanners, and the majority worked with the Square Stand. The only scanners that did not work were older models, so we recommend using a scanner from within the past five years or so. Keep in mind, only USB interface Honeywell and Zebra (formerly Motorola/Symbol) scanners work with the Square Stand. If you have a specific model scanner and you’re unsure if it will work with the Square Stand, give us a call and we’d be happy to test it out.

“I received my order and just want to thank you for your professionalism. I don’t normally purchase things online but this was a waaay better experience than I’d had with a local printer that I’d been referred to.”

A best seller, the Star mPOP combines both a cash drawer and receipt printer into a Bluetooth-enabled, compact unit. The mPOP is perfect for low-mid volume vendors who are looking for a simple, integrated point of sale solution.

POS printers often include display screens that allow customers to view items as employees scan or manually enter them for the transaction. This simple display helps purchasers verify pricing and review tax information at a glance, ensuring they receive the advertised prices.

Other real-world places such as Apple stores have been doing email receipts for a while, but this absolutely should be the way of the future. Not only can I see what I bought, I can easily see and remember where I bought it, and it shows exactly how it will be displayed on my credit card receipt.

Square introduces more ways to engage with customers. Square now integrates with cash drawers and receipt printers. With a single tap on an iPad, you can open your register’s drawer to complete a cash sale or make change. Please read the options below carefully before purchasing a cash drawer.

First one we got was dead. Customer service is almost non-existent. Packaged it up and paid to ship back to repair center. Several weeks went by with no feedback, then received back the exact packaging with no note or anything to indicate what the issue was, or if it had even been fixed. It seems it has, but that process was a pain. Now it doesn’t like to stay visible on the network so we are always either re-booting or just telling people it’s broken. Turns out people don’t care all that much about paper receipts anyway. Recommend purchasing directly through Square if you really need it. At least then you might get some tech support.

Both the Clover Station and the Square Stand are payment solutions for businesses, but they differ in flexibility. With Square stand you’re going to process payments with Square, but with Clover you can process payments with a much wider variety of companies.

The amount of time the paper lasts in your printer depends on your sales. If you’re making hundreds of sales per day then you’ll be replacing the roll of paper a couple times a month. That’s not bad. Paper rolls for your printer are pretty cheap. [redirect url=’http://wyzemerchant.com/bump’ sec=’0]
