It has 2 different devices you can use to take payments. I was able to easily set up and update the App so that it connected via bluetooth to my phone. The update did not take very long and the video tutorial was very helpful. I really like this product one of the easiet products to set up and use to take credit and debit card payments by far. I used the Bluetooth device and put the cc into the square it did not take long at all for it to process. Signing was very easy to do and my customers like the choice of getting an email receipt.
There are dual-interface cards that implement contactless and contact interfaces on a single card with some shared storage and processing. An example is Porto’s multi-application transport card, called Andante, that uses a chip in contact and contactless (ISO/IEC 14443 type B) mode.
Wireless printing is hugely convenient, because it makes it easy to share your printer with your computing kit. All the main printer manufacturers now include models in their ranges that have Wi-Fi onboard. Typically you’ll find wireless built-in to models that cost from £40 and upwards, so you don’t necessarily have to spend big to get this functionality. Wireless printing is supported on HP’s Deskjet 3000 (pictured, below right), which is priced at just £45, for example.

Accept every way your customers want to pay with the new Square Reader for contactless and chip—EMV chip cards, Apple Pay, Android Pay, other NFC payments, and magstripe cards. The reader connects wirelessly to iOS or Android devices with Bluetooth LE or with USB if you sell with the optional Square Stand. It works exclusively with the free Square Point of Sale app to take care of payments, tipping, inventory, reports, and more. Square Reader for contactless and chip comes with a free Square Reader for magstripe so you can swipe cards the old-fashioned way, too. Pay only 2.75% per swipe, dip, or tap for Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, with no surprise fees. Square sends deposits directly to your bank account in one to two business days—or you can enable Instant Deposit for 1% per deposit to get your money in seconds. Get a Dock for Square Reader to anchor the reader on your countertop and keep it charged all day. Square’s hardware is only approved for use in the country for which it is intended. For example, hardware sold or intended for sale in the United States is not approved for use in Australia, Canada, Japan, or the United Kingdom.
In addition, the MP300’s compact contemporary design doesn’t compromise on printing performance. This printer is ideal for printing traffic citations, utility invoices, rental car receipts, etc. Chara…
I bought this as an upgrade to the square magstripe reader I had been using for a while. I was already familiar with the square app and functions, I just needed to integrate the new chip reader into my routine. I also purchased the charging dock based on reviews I read stating that the device turns off very often as a battery saving feature. The dock also seemed like it would improve overall ease of use.
There are two approaches to cloud printing. The first is commonly called email printing. With this method your printer is assigned an email address and any file that you email to this specific address will be printed by your Internet-connected printer.

The New TM-T20II Ethernet Plus offers customers flexible connectivity and convenience. With built-in Ethernet and a USB host port as standard, merchants have the ability to add wireless connectivity through the use of an Epson wireless adapter (OT-WL02). Achieve seamless connectivity and printing from mobile devices and web applications using Epson’s ePOS Print technology. mPOS configurations allows retailers to switch from legacy PC POS to mobile based systems with ease. Contactless MSD cards are similar to magnetic stripe cards in terms of the data they share across the contactless interface. They are only distributed in the U.S. Payment occurs in a similar fashion to mag-stripe, without a PIN and often in off-line mode (depending on parameters of the terminal). The security level of such a transaction is better than a mag-stripe card, as the chip cryptographically generates a code which can be verified by the card issuer’s systems.
A contactless smart card is a card in which the chip communicates with the card reader through an induction technology similar to that of an RFID (at data rates of 106 to 848 kbit/s). These cards require only close proximity to an antenna to complete a transaction. They are often used when transactions must be processed quickly or hands-free, such as on mass transit systems, where a smart card can be used without even removing it from a wallet.
The final option is to configure your printer by first connecting it to your computer via USB. Some people may find this option easier than the second method, as it can often be a bit fiddly to enter long Wi-Fi passwords using your printer’s basic controls.
Contactless smart card readers use radio waves to communicate with, and both read and write data on a smart card. When used for electronic payment, they are commonly located near PIN pads, cash registers and other places of payment. When the readers are used for public transit they are commonly located on fare boxes, ticket machines, turnstiles, and station platforms as a standalone unit. When used for security, readers are usually located to the side of an entry door.
UPDATE: August 14, 2016 – Still no issues with printing. There is a slight delay, about five seconds, between completing the transaction and printing the receipt. This could very well be an issue using Square Payment Systems, and not really the printer and the IPad that I’ve linked it to for Square sales. The printer does lose its Bluetooth connection when I move the IPad to the next room, which is expected, but it often does not “find” and then “pair” again without me going through the printer’s pairing process again. For that reason, I’m lowering my star rating from five to four. In the scheme of things, this is just a minor inconvenience and the printer quality more than makes up for any issues with pairing from time to time.
This is one of the more common thermal receipt printers used with Square Payments. It generally costs less than $200. It come in white and black color. It has an auto-cutter to slice thermal receipt paper for you. It uses thermal paper so you never never need to fill it with ink. It is generally easy to maintain and add paper when you need it. So this is a printer that works well in a wide variety of environments. However, if you are in a kitchen or some area where the air is moist you may want to get an impact printer as thermal receipt paper does not work well in moist environments where there is little ventilation. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SM-S230i.

Use Cases for Bluetooth: Most of the time you will want a Bluetooth Printer if you are very mobile or using a 3G/4G enabled Tablet. Mobile businesses do not want to deal with messy cables which are the major benefit of Bluetooth printers as these are also mobile and often times run on a battery pack. For those with a 3G or 4G Printer you want to choose a Bluetooth Printer due to the networking aspect. Once you are running on 3G or 4G you will not be able to connect to a LAN or WIFI network and also use your 3G/4G feature. Due to this, it’s best to opt for a Bluetooth Printer in your bundle so you can utilize your 3G/4G functionality on your Tablet.
this works with apple perfect I use it for a pos system I have. A big drawback is the Bluetooth setting, They are not recognized by my apple tablet. Works fine with android and windows via bluetooth. The instructions could use a lot of work in explaining or lask or explains bluetooth set up. Bottom line is if you a little computer savvy you should have no problems
A plug-in Bluetooth receipt printer is great for when you have a more traditional point of sale setup but don’t have an available USB port. In these cases you can pair the printer with your tablet or PC and keep it plugged into the wall. It’ll function like a standard receipt printer, communicating via Bluetooth.

Set up is pretty much straightforward. You download the app (Squre Register-POS), you’ll need your Business Account // Personal Account along with routing number. Zip Code, name, address, social security and what not. Pretty much what a bank would ask you. Once your account is linked, it will ask you if you want them to send you their product or if you already got it. I thought the product was going to be sent for free, but it was charging me another $50, so i wanted to cancel and it didn’t give me that option. I still have to check with customer service about that. In the meanwhile i just put “charge me later” or something along the lines.
Why, for God’s sakes, can we not have a receipt that takes up a single page instead of three pages??? I’ve been a customer of square-enabled businesses for at least 4 years, and Square hasn’t come up with a solution for this? I saw where someone asked this question in April but didn’t get any responses. Please, please, please? Is there some setting that everyone else in America is using, but I’m not? Please help me.

These types of receipt printers need to be lightweight and reliable despite their small size, especially since they may also be used outdoors. For example, the SM-S220i has a battery life of eight hours (with a printing interval of 5 minutes).
AirPrint doesn’t really require any setup, because as long as your printer and iOS device are connected to the same network they will automatically find each other. All you have to do is select the Print option in iOS, tap the ‘Select Printer’ button and then choose your printer from the list. Next you simply select the number of copies you want and press print. That’s it — it really couldn’t be easier.
