Most modern POS systems require an Internet connection, at least most of the time, so you’ll probably need a modem, router, and associated cables to get online. Most cloud POS’s run on wireless (or sometimes data connections), but some, such as Revel Systems, give you the option of a more secure wired (Ethernet) connection, which plugs directly into your iPad.

Why, for God’s sakes, can we not have a receipt that takes up a single page instead of three pages??? I’ve been a customer of square-enabled businesses for at least 4 years, and Square hasn’t come up with a solution for this? I saw where someone asked this question in April but didn’t get any responses. Please, please, please? Is there some setting that everyone else in America is using, but I’m not? Please help me.
Built specifically to work in environments where heat and humidity can erode the type on the kitchen order, the SP700 is an ideal printing solution. This fast, two-color printer offers crisp, easy to read type for quick viewing, clamshell design for easy paper loading and an embedded power supply for space efficiency.
Square allows you to create individual business profiles for different locations, which can be tied to the same or different bank accounts. You can have up to 75 locations per Square account. Each location can have duplicate or different inventory items as other locations. Once you have multiple locations set up, new items can be added to a single location or multiple locations, and pricing for an item can be the same or different across locations.
If you want a small and easy to carry receipt printer, this may be it. It weighs less than half a pound. It is easy to carry around. For people who sell at craft shows, farmers markets and historical fairs this may be the receipt printer.
Rule 3: Sarcasm Sarcasm is mostly OK, however if questions are asked please be respectful and abstain or comment under the correct answer to not clutter the topic. You will be warned by the moderation staff on the first two offenses and or temporary banned depending on severity.
A small in the city Staples that covers your basic needs. Don’t come here looking for five thousand choice to pick through but the have more than the basic covered. Surprisingly they have a large selection of Moleskine products which is two thumbs up in my book.
You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.
** If you are using the Square Register app, this is the USB version of the Star TSP143 Printer and must be used with the Square Stand Hardware. You will need a Star ethernet or bluetooth printer if you are using Square or a similar Point of Sale app with the tablet or device by itself.
A best seller, the Star mPOP combines both a cash drawer and receipt printer into a Bluetooth-enabled, compact unit. The mPOP is perfect for low-mid volume vendors who are looking for a simple, integrated point of sale solution.
Secondary receipts can be used to set up kitchen or barista printing – where you may only want to print some transactions, and even some products within some transactions, to each of their printers. You can have more than one secondary receipt printer, and each can have its own tag settings.
2. USB Connection: If the cash drawer is connected via USB cable to the Square Stand: When you accept a cash payment, tap “Tender” from Square Register and your cash drawer will open automatically (If you’ve enabled PIN protection, you will need to provide the passcode).

Square works with any printer driven cash drawer, as long as the cash drawer is compatible with the receipt printer you’re using. We successfully used Square with APG, MMF, and POS-X printer driven cash drawers (hooked up to our TSP100III Ethernet printer), but any printer driven cash drawer should work. If you’re looking for a cash drawer to use instead of the official cash drawers, we recommend:

Although Square only lists a few Honeywell and Zebra scanners as compatible with the Square Stand, we tested a number of USB interface Honeywell and Zebra scanners, and the majority worked with the Square Stand. The only scanners that did not work were older models, so we recommend using a scanner from within the past five years or so. Keep in mind, only USB interface Honeywell and Zebra (formerly Motorola/Symbol) scanners work with the Square Stand. If you have a specific model scanner and you’re unsure if it will work with the Square Stand, give us a call and we’d be happy to test it out.
A second thing to keep in mind is the Square Stand is not exclusively compatible with USB hardware; it’s also compatible with all of the same wireless hardware as Square with a reader. If you’re interested in using the Square Stand and also want wireless hardware, either to future-proof your business or for more mobility, that’s an option you can consider (although the Square Stand may be a bit excessive, see below for other stand options). This also means you can add on wireless hardware to your Square Stand in addition to your USB hardware, like an Ethernet kitchen printer or Bluetooth barcode scanner.
Had 3 of these in my place to on cash draws one in the kitchen they work well as long as there is no internet/WiFi drop off. Using it with couple IPad Airs and Square register app for several years. When I loose internet or sometimes they seem to disconnect from the register even when I don’t have internet problems and they usually have to powered off and on. Also in the mean time my cash draw wont open and I have to find the key. Being so annoyed I with connection issues I have since replaced them with the USB versions (except the kitchen one) and all my problems stopped.
Wall Mountable: Need more counter space? Create more room by mounting the printer to the wall. The future PRNT Configuration Utility allows for Text Reversal so the receipt is printed to face the user.
Square has the option to process payments offline. In order for Square to offer the option to process payments offline, they accept no responsibility for any declined payments taken while offline. PayPal Here does not have an offline option to process payments. It is unlikely that PayPal Here will add this option in the future, as PayPal does not want to be liable for declined payments.
*Note: We have had some Sellers complain about the receipts printing over too many pages when they want it to only print on one. The trick is to reduce the scale of the image within your printing options until it fits. (see screenshot)

iPad-based POS (Point of Sale) systems have become increasingly popular. In addition to saving money on upfront costs, these systems have streamlined operations in the modern merchant and Square Register is quickly becoming one of the most convenient and coolest ways for small businesses to process transactions. Tablet and smartphone based systems are also being increasingly used for inventory control – from the retail floor to the warehouse – and by sales personnel assisting customers in-store and on the convention floor. The hardware options for Square Stand differ from those below. For Square Stand hardware options, or to learn how to set up hardware with Square Stand, click here: here.
One final factor to keep in mind is switching between Square and PayPal Here is fairly easy, depending on how involved your inventory is. They both have free card readers, so it’s mostly just a matter of getting the card reader, downloading the new app and signing up. There is a wide variety of hardware that is compatible with both of them (we recommend the Star TSP100III Ethernet interface receipt printer and the Star CD3-1616 cash drawer for hardware that will work with either Square or PayPal Here) If you choose one and decide it’s not working out for you, you can always try the other. In fact, many users report having both, and using one for back-up.
I am sure that this has been asked and answered, but the search feature on this communities site is not very robust and the information I’ve been able to gather from square/communities is not entirely clear. So I am asking again (maybe).
Square Point of Sale on an iPad is compatible with a wide variety of third-party hardware accessories. Below, you’ll find a list of supported accessories, where to purchase them, and information on getting set up.
A quick look at using the TSP100 ECO thermal receipt printer with a Square Stand. The TSP100ECO is an eco-friendly thermal receipt printer that cuts down on using power by only turning on when connected via USB to a powered device.
A Square Stand on the counter is a thing of beauty. Its design is elegant, sophisticated, and efficient, plus it’s some pretty cool features that make it even better. For starters its got a built in reader so you don’t have to plug anything else into the iPad to take a credit card payment. Just dock the iPad to the stand, plug it all in, secure it and you’re ready to go. And speaking of good looking, what you put into that stand isn’t all that bad either, we won’t waste any more time going on and on about how well designed the iPad actually is, you know it already…in fact its probably one of the reasons you want one on your counter. You’re going to look better than most of the businesses on the block.
The retail app needs some work but I understand they need more time to update the software. Once the bugs get worked out, I would love to have a complete retail POS solution. In my mind it would include, physical inventory counts using scanners for tons of inventory -preferable to have multiple people doing different parts of the store at the same time. Included in retail should be a report for the inventory status/financial which would include total count, total cost, and total retail price of the entire store/warehouse. Also, a better integration for Quickbooks online. I’m scared to add this integration because it gets horrible reviews.
