Works as advertised. No on/off switch. It instantly wakes up when I run the Square register app on our IPAD Air 2 POS with the Square stand. The printing is fast and easily readable. It is very nice when the combination of products (I.E. Square Stand, Square Register, IPAD Air 2 and this printer) works so well together.
With multiple exit options for enhanced cable management, the mPOP™ complements any countertop area for a visually appealing POS system. The functions and connectivity of the mPOP™ make processing customer transactions smooth and effective for small shops, cafes, florists, bars, and many more. An update 11/21/15 Had it working fine with Amazon local register until Amazon shut it down, so bought the PayPal chip and card reader- the updated paypal iOs app will not print to this printer. (iOs 9.1/ iPad 3). The workaround I found was to turn this printer in to an airprint printer- it’s a bit of a hack, instructions are out there, problem being you must have a host computer on the network. To be clear- this is a PayPal issue- not a fault of the printer.
Use the specially designed Vertical Stand when utilizing the TSP100 in a vertical orientation. The Vertical Stand provides a clean surface facing the customer, which also creates room for advertising.

This is the answer for vendors at Farmer’s Markets, craft shows, etc. Armed with the Paypal app , this receipt printer and a cash drawer that opens with a signal from the printer and a Goal Zero Yeti 400 I can run all day print receipts, kick the cash drawer AND run a 12V and a USB fan for a little air movement on 20% of the battery pack’s capacity. Blue tooth synching has worked every time, turn on the printer, open the iPad, open the app and, voila, there it is. The printer connects immediately upon waking the iPad during a lull in the action. VERY EASY. As soon as it was plugged in to the wall, the iPad & the cash drawer, it worked! We did not need to download anything – just plug & go. We will be using this on the go – so it was nice to not need to plug in to Ethernet. Very happy. Also, less expensive to buy piece by piece than the whole set. We bought the following cash drawer to accompany the printer: PARTYSAVING Point of Sales/Cash 12V Drawer Register Metal RJ-11 Key-Lock W/ Bill & Movable Coin Trays APL1304, Black

If auto-connect is not enabled, you need to connect the paired printer manually every time you turn it on. To do this, tap the printer name in the Bluetooth DEVICES list in your iPad Settings (not the Shopify POS app setting).
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !

I purchased this printer as a compliment for Square Register, it works beautifully! There is almost no setup, I plugged it into the USB hub provided with Square Register, went into setup on the register and it recognized it immediately. Printed the test page and then printed a transaction, super easy. I highly recommend this printer if you’re a Square Register user. I’ll be buying more as we continue to expand our business.

Nice dot matrix receipt printer for use in a commercial kitchen to print out orders. It’s a larger printer compared to the thermal printers and it’s quite loud. Not a bad thing in a kitchen as the chef will hear the printer when a new ticket is up. It does by the way have a buzzer jack so when a ticket is printed the buzzer goes off as well. Easy to set up even without instructions that were not included in the box, nor was the power cord. I think I received a used or returned unit so hopefully instructions and a power cord should be included. Star has a very good website with all documentation online. I believe this printer will work well in the kitchen environment. Be sure to stock up on ribbons & paper. Also, be careful who this or any other product for that matter is sold by. If it’s not sold by Amazon.com there most likely will be a different return policy than the easy & liberal Amazon.com return policy. This is why I did not return the item since the seller I purchased from (Antonline) had such a restrictive and arrogant return policy, I thought I’d be in for a fight. Since it worked & I had a power cord I just kept it, it wasn’t work the potential aggravation.
I hate being the one to leave a bad review on an item because of a defective unit, but we have had so many problems with not only the printer, but with Star themselves, that I figured it was warranted.
Connectable with host devices via Bluetooth or USB interface (Dual interface). Connectable with tablets and other peripheral devices designated by Star Micronics via each of the 4 type A USB ports (0.5A x 2 / 1.5A x 2).
