The Star mPOP combined printer and cash drawer is available with a plug and play Star scanner or this can be added as a later option. Additional mPOP accessories are also available, please see below.
To enable printing to your receipt printer from Square, you first need to connect your receipt printer to your iPad. Once your printer is connected, under Settings > Printers, tap your connected receipt printer and make sure “Receipts, Bills, and Reports” (under Print From This Device) is toggled on. This screen is also where you can enable printing kitchen tickets (if you have a kitchen printer).
A cash drawer must be connected to a receipt printer to open automatically. Otherwise, you’ll need to manually open the drawer using the cash drawer key. To link your cash drawer to the Square app on your iPad, you can connect it to a supported receipt printer that has a peripheral drive connector using an interface cable. Most receipt printers, except mobile bluetooth printers, generally have a peripheral drive connector.

A secure counter clip is provided along with an optional 3rd party Kensington lock facility for maximum security. The optional under-counter mount kit option enables the mPOP to be positioned in a more secure environment if required.
This Setup is for Ipad Square Stand Register. You’ll need to purchase a Square Stand Separately to make a complete setup. Installation is pretty simple. Cash Drawer connects to back of the printer, and Printer connects to Square Stand. Then you are ready to go.
POS hardware setups can vary a lot from one merchant to the next, from big-box stores with self-service kiosks, to your small-time entrepreneur friend who only takes payments on his old-ass Samsung Galaxy. Most businesses, however, will find a happy medium between these two point-of-sale setups and incorporate a few core pieces of POS equipment into their hardware setup.
Most POS system providers sell bundled hardware sets. These are convenient because you get everything you need, and you know that the hardware you buy will be compatible with your particular POS system, and with the other POS hardware components.
@SSmobile @Kevin7 – I went ahead and moved both of your comments over to the thread where we are tracking this feature request. I totally understand your frustration and desire for Epson support. They make a mean printer that is also a fraction of the cost of most Star printers. I have personally passed this feedback along to our product team, and expanding compatibility is something that is top of mind for them. I’ll update this thread if/when this functionality is added in the future!
To create your own bar codes and labels, you’ll need to use a third-party application. At the moment, we don’t support bar code and label printers and can’t guarantee compatibility, but many customers have success using the DYMO Label Writer 450 and labels with Square.
I went for the self-service copiers on a Monday at 5p. They’ve so much functionality as to not require staff assistance which is key as they’re very much slow and overwhelmed with work. The copiers can even accept jobs emailed to them which returns a barcode which you scan on the unit to pull up the file in addition to the usual USB drive insert. I made 11 copies of ledger-sized (11″x17″) which went perfectly. Very nice resolution and print quality. Machines are new and work great with big bright user interface so no confidence loss there. It prints the receipt. Many office supplies are kept in stock such as rubber bands, staplers, rulers, pens, refill paper, etc. Retail area looks old, in need of updating albeit it serves the purpose & all Staples in Manhattan are in similar shape. Handy location across W 35th St from A/C/E train uptown direction uptown-most exit.

Great product and great company to work with. I at first ordered the TSP143U which is a USB Printer to work with a Tablet to set up a POS system at my business. Once I got it, I realized that if I had the printer plugged into the tablet there was no additional port to then charge the tablet. I contacted the company and they gladly accepted my return and let me reorder this LAN Printer. I highly recommend this vendor and their product.
Max paper width：58mm（58MM width paper roll included）. This thermal printer is an improved type of printer which is of70mm/s high speed, better performance but costs less and makes low noise. It is bot…
An update 11/21/15 Had it working fine with Amazon local register until Amazon shut it down, so bought the PayPal chip and card reader- the updated paypal iOs app will not print to this printer. (iOs 9.1/ iPad 3). The workaround I found was to turn this printer in to an airprint printer- it’s a bit of a hack, instructions are out there, problem being you must have a host computer on the network. To be clear- this is a PayPal issue- not a fault of the printer.
This Square Receipt Printer is a thermal printer. It requires heat-sensitive paper and won’t work with non-thermal receipt paper. These types of printers aren’t ideal for kitchens or high-temperature working areas. See below for the Thermal Receipt Paper addon
A Square Stand on the counter is a thing of beauty. Its design is elegant, sophisticated, and efficient, plus it’s got some pretty cool features that make it even better. For starters its got a built in reader so you don’t have to plug anything else into the iPad to take a credit card payment. Just dock the iPad to the stand, plug it all in, secure it and you’re ready to go. And speaking of good looking, what you put into that stand isn’t all that bad either, we won’t waste any more time going on and on about how well designed the iPad actually is, you know it already…in fact its probably one of the reasons you want one on your counter. You’re going to look better than most of the businesses on the block.
There are a number of accessories that work Square for iOS beyond what’s on their officially compatible list. Please keep in mind that although we have tested the following hardware and found that it works, Square will not support it should you run into difficulties.
Mini thermal printer, no need for ink or ribbon, low operation cost. Support for iOS Android Windows devices, can connect with 8 devices at the same time. (For iOS 1 & for Android 7 at most.). 90mm/s,…

Atm it’s cheaper for me to use something else other than square, than to change the printer tablet setup. It appears other people have similar issues. Square managment need to grasp the economics here of only catering to a small hardware segment(Star printers) of the market, while marketing themselves as a simple DIY eftpos POS for small businesses, who burn themselves on compatability issues. Hopefully Square can solve this issue.
We have added flairs for almost all of the Staples job titles, just press the “edit” link next to your name above this post on the sidebar. If you don’t see your position listed message the moderators and we’ll be more than happy to accommodate!
If you are using your iPad or iPhone by itself with the Square app, you will not be able to use a USB Star Micronics Printer. You will need either a Bluetooth Receipt Printer, or Ethernet Receipt Printer. A good reason for going with Ethernet, is that you can have multiple devices print to one printer. If you are using an Android device, you can use either an Ethernet Receipt Printer, or and of the USB Receipt Printer stated above as long as you use the USB OTG(on the go) adapter. Please note, Bluetooth is not currently supported on Android for Square.
