But my point is that an adding machine paper-receipt looks unprofessional in some businesses. An inexpensive ink jet or better, a multitasking network office printer that is already in use would make a LOT more sense for me. I’m sure they are robust and work fine, they just don’t suit my business and I don’t like being so limited in the TYPE of printer I can use.
The Star Micronics SM-S230i is light weight at only 7.7 ounces. It is small and easy to carry around. If you’re someone who sell at a farmers market, craft fair or some other place where mobility is very important, the Star Micronics SM-S230i may be what you need. It uses thermal paper and connects to your iPhone, iPad with bluetooth or USB. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SM-S230i.
Hi @McNabbGames — I went ahead and combined your thread with another seller’s who had a similar question. I can assure you that we’re always looking into more affordable hardware options for our sellers. As for the technical explanation, from my limited understanding (I’m not an engineer), each printer manufacturer has a specific driver for their hardware, and since manufacturers don’t build printer drivers for Square Register, we would have to build one for each printer model – which is something we don’t have the bandwidth to do.
As a bluetooth only device, it is a bit glitchy. If you are wanting to use it with a phone/tablet only as a standalone device, look elsewhere. The miura m010 reader works great for this, though is unfortunately not available on amazon.

You don’t need to screw around with the extra settings, just turn on the cash drawer before/After print and be done. All of that coupon set up, barcode stuff on there is good but is best to use within your software development for better control but it too is useful. I use code 3-9 and scanner picks it right up for my transaction numbers. Now you do have programming options to setup the cutter and all of that but for those needing something fo there store on a quick, serve my customers base, this is by far the best and a heck of a lot cheaper that the t88 models by which I don’t see any difference by any means
POSGuys.com carries a wide variety of receipt printers, ideal for many budgets and applications. The most important consideration is what printers are compatible with your POS software. Aside from that, you will want to determine what kind of interface you need, whether you need an auto cutter, or if you have environmental restrictions that would prevent some printers from working well.
Some POS software has specific hardware and driver requirements, so it is important to double check before buying a receipt printer. For instance, some software requires OLE for point of sale drivers, otherwise known as OPOS, while others work fine with Windows, Mac OS, or Linux drivers. Epson receipt printers offer compatibility with most OPOS drivers and have their own Windows drivers, so they are smart choice if you are uncertain which drivers you need.
Multi-Function receipt printers combine various retail functions into a single, space-saving solution. With support for receipt printing, slip printing, check endorsing, MICR, and sometimes even barcode scanning, these receipt printers are a fantastic choice for higher volume retailers, banks, or any place where space is a premium but multiple payment types are accepted.

eBay determines trending price through a machine learned model of the product’s sale prices within the last 90 days. “New” refers to a brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item, and “Used” refers to an item that has been used previously.
The Star Micronics TSP143IIILAN works with Square Payments. Star Micronics is a well known manufacturer of receipt printers. They make many different models. You connect to a Square iPad stand with a USB cable. This receipt printer uses 80 mm width or 3 1/8 inch width thermal paper for the receipts. There is a roll of paper that ships with the receipt printer. An auto cutter mechanism cuts the receipt paper for you when you make a sale.
The Ethernet printers compatible with Square Point of Sale are thermal printers. They require heat-sensitive paper and won’t work with non-thermal receipt paper. These types of printers aren’t ideal for kitchens or high-temperature working areas.
Have not purchased this printer, but wanted to let people know that this is not the only printer that will work with Square. I have two Star Micronics printers, one Ethernet and one Bluetooth and both work fine with the Square app for iPad. I also have Ethernet based cash drawers that connect through the printers and those works just as well. This probably has the easiest set up, but it is not the only way.
This is an impact printer. So it makes a noise when it prints. Why would you want this? You might want it if you are in an area such as a kitchen where thermal paper receipts don’t print as well because of moisture in the area. You would not want this noise around customers. But if you have a moist area such as a busy kitchen this impact printer may be what you can use. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SP742ML.

If you want a small and easy to carry receipt printer, this may be it. It weighs less than half a pound. It is easy to carry around. For people who sell at craft shows, farmers markets and historical fairs this may be the receipt printer.
The first thing to do is plug the Star Micronics printer directly into an available ethernet port on your router and power up the printer. Once the printer is powered up, make sure your Android device is on the same network as is the printer. Next, fire up the Square App, log into your account, and swipe right from the left edge of the screen. From the sidebar, tap Account, and then tap Settings. The Settings window (Figure A) should list Printers — tap that and select the printer to be used.
We expanded and I just reordered the last one through Amazon. What came in was the TM-20II. Different power cord than the last one which lead to some wiring problems but overall a much faster printer!!!
I had a issue with the printer not turning on due to a malfunctioning square pos stand from square up. I spent about 3 hours on it , I called the customer service and a nice guy was able to guide me thru. It turns out the iPad air needed a software update to a iOS 11 beta 2 in order to work and connect. He helped me out on the products I didn’t even buy from him. He even directed me to a link to exchange my square pos stand. If you ever had to work squareup customer service you would know how lengthy and tedious it can get. He was able to help me bypass a lot of the complication and the product I brought was just the cash drawer and printer and it was in great and working condition. After I got my iPad air updated and pos stand exchanged everything connected and works perfectly now! This saves me over a thousand dollars!! I am so happy with my result I reorder another one from them!
I recently ran into a situation where I had multiple vendors — all using individual Square accounts — that needed to be able to print receipts from a centralized receipt printer. I discovered that it’s possible if you have right printer. Let me show you how this is done, so you can avoid the confusion and headache of having to solve this issue on your own.

I spent years in jobs that included lots of cash handling. This cash drawer is the nicest I’ve seen. It’s solid build will last for years and its finish is just lovely. It triggers cleanly and the drawer all but shoots out when triggered. I’m very pleased.
I’ve only had it up and running for a couple of weeks now, but it prints and cuts the receipts well and have yet to have any problems with it. Drivers disc makes setting up and installing a snap, and it comes with any/all necessary cables. It even comes with a mount for wall mounting, but in looking at it I’m not sure how you would do that or even why someone might want to 🙂
With so many receipt printers on the market, it’s hard to know which one will support your software while giving you the best return on your investment. Thankfully, we have researched and reviewed these printers, testing them against software packages, and have determined that these are the best receipt printers in their class. From impact printing for kitchens and dry cleaners, to fast retail receipt printers for customer checkout, these printers will give you the best experience at your business.
You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.
Impact printers only print order tickets for a kitchen. They’re not affected by heat and can withstand warm environments. They require heat-sensitive paper and won’t work with non-thermal, receipt printer paper.
Thermal Receipt Printer, PoweredUSB and USB Interfaces, Auto-cutter. No power supply. Order cables separately. Color: Dark gray. (Dual interface printers require modifications to the printer to use the standard USB interface. The standard USB port will not work unless you use power supply and reconfigure printer by removing the PoweredUSB card). Please Call for more information.
The STAR MICRONICS SM-T300I is also a light weight receipt printer. But it’s very durable and rugged. It’s also Apple MFi certified for iOS phone and iPads. It also works with Android and Windows. It’s been tested to take a little bit of beating and is used by people who are outside a lot. Having said that the price is higher than other printers. If you need something rugged, this device may be the one for you. But if you don’t. You will want to look at something else as this device can get expensive. The SM-T300i is easy to use. There is a well written and very detailed user manual. The user manual gives details on how to configure the receipt printer and how to load paper. Here is a link to the Star Micronics SM-T300i User Manual.
