This video takes a look at which receipt printers you can use with Square and the Square Stand with iOS, and which printers are best for your business. The USB printers can ONLY print with the Square Stand. We go over the TSP100, TSP100ECO, TSP100III, SM-S220i, and SP700. For more information on these printers, see our Square Compatible Receipt Printers article: https://posguys.com/blog/product-info/article/square-compatible-receipt-printer
If you’re rewards information’s is taken at the register, when you go to register the plan, it uses your rewards numbers and then autofills all of the information, “automagically” registering it. You still need to go to the website though.
The latest version of the mPOP SDK and mPOP Utility includes an additional DK cash drawer port for traditional RJ12 cash drawers which will allow an additional cash drawer to be connected including Star’s CB2002 cash drawer.
Hi @McNabbGames — I went ahead and combined your thread with another seller’s who had a similar question. I can assure you that we’re always looking into more affordable hardware options for our sellers. As for the technical explanation, from my limited understanding (I’m not an engineer), each printer manufacturer has a specific driver for their hardware, and since manufacturers don’t build printer drivers for Square Register, we would have to build one for each printer model – which is something we don’t have the bandwidth to do.
I got one recently and it registered itself and sent me an email about a week later just needing proof of purchase. My SSM refuses to believe me and tells everyone to register it. But no if they have rewards its automatic
The email from Square Trade arrives about a week after purchase to the email address recorded in your Rewards information at time of purchase. That email includes a link to send them a copy of your receipt so you don’t need it – should you ever need to make a claim they’ll have it on file for you. That link takes you to a page with instructions on scanning and submitting said receipt. However, IF they have a digital receipt, that email and web page tells you how to send them a copy via EMAIL.
Printer companies issues a “series” much like a car model. Jeep a different vehicles (a car series) and different models within that series. Jeep Cherokee is a car series and they have different models within the Jeep Cherokee family. TSP100 is of of Star’s printer series (like a car model) and TSP143… is the specific model. TSP143ii are current USB models and TSP143iii are the current LAN and Bluetooth models. Hope that helps. 🙂
1. Receipt Printer Connection: If the cash drawer is connected to the receipt printer: Whenever you print a receipt, the printer also sends a “drawer open” signal to the cash drawer and your cash drawer will open automatically.
For quick, high-volume receipt printing, a thermal receipt printer is usually a good choice, though hot environments, such as a food truck, might use an impact printer. The printer may be either wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Bluetooth) and you’ll need one per register.

Generally speaking, the Star printers will just show TSP100 on the front of the actual printer but those are the model numbers; it is kind of confusing. Feel free to share a link or two to the printers you’re viewing, I’d be happy to confirm.
Square allows you to create individual business profiles for different locations, which can be tied to the same or different bank accounts. You can have up to 75 locations per Square account. Each location can have duplicate or different inventory items as other locations. Once you have multiple locations set up, new items can be added to a single location or multiple locations, and pricing for an item can be the same or different across locations.
Another nice touch is that they include a CD which allows you to customize the printer (add logos, sync with POS systems, custom data to add once the receipt is printed, etc). Keep in mind though, this customization works with certain POS systems, not all. On Square, I can’t tell the printer to print out all of the extra stuff since the POS for Square is very simplified.
Connect your Square Stand with a compatible iPad and recommended hardware accessories to help run your business. Before purchasing a Square Stand, make sure you’re using a supported iPad. You can identify your iPad model on Apple’s Support site.
After you set the receipt type to ‘Secondary receipt’, the ‘Print products by tag’ field will appear. Turning on ‘Print by tag’ and specifying a product tag will cause a receipt to be generated by the printer ONLY when a product with that tag is included in the sale.

I suggest that Square makes available some advice or a list of cheaper Bluetooth printers that customers could consider. Also, please make the printing of receipts from the Square customer web site easier.
There are a number of accessories that work Square for iOS beyond what’s on their officially compatible list. Please keep in mind that although we have tested the following hardware and found that it works, Square will not support it should you run into difficulties.

The Square Stand is a stand for your iPad that makes using Square straightforward. More than just an iPad stand, the Square Stand has a magnetic stripe card reader integrated into the base. So instead of the Square card reader that plugs into the headphone jack, the card reader is built in to the stand. It also comes with a peripheral chip and NFC reader with a charging dock, which allows you to take EMV chip and NFC (like Apple Pay) payments. The Square Stand has a built in charger, so your iPad charges while in the stand. It also has a USB hub that allows you to easily use USB interface hardware.
