One advantage of having the Windfall iPad stand work as the POS stand for your iPad is that you can easily attach most card readers to your iPad. The ports are mostly very accessible – and most importantly, wires can be concealed to make sure the POS system looks professional.
If you plan to get a printer with your system, then stick with lower cost serial (not usb) based cash drawer and tie it into the printer instead, which also frees up one of the precious and limited usb ports on a square stand. This is important when you need a chip/nfc reader, printer, drawer, and scanner.
The sand also features a wide iPad faceplate. Both are made from powder-coated stainless steel and whilst the default colours on offer are black and white, the makers of the Flip can also offer a customer colour for an additional cost, prices being given on application.
The days of cumbersome point-of-sale terminals are gradually going away, being replaced by simpler, more mobile and powerful systems. One of the most interesting gadget that has found its place in Point of Sale is the iPad. More and more small business owners are using the iPad as their choice of a POS device. And with great POS apps, it’s worked great so far.
iDynamo is a secure card reader authenticator (SCRA) designed to work with all supported iOS devices. The iDynamo offers MagneSafe security and delivers open standards encryption. The Armodilo bracket is a custom enclosure to house the iDynamo which fastens directly to the Armodilo Kiosk head, ensuring a robust card reader attachment. (Card reader not included.)
All your assets are controlled because of the inventory feature. You can know how much you have of each item without having to go to the stand. Within seconds, you can learn about what you have and what you need. If you have multiple concession stands to manage, it’s not a big deal. The Bepoz system will easily manage multiple locations from one handheld unit so there is nothing to worry about. Stock control will tell you what you have and you can add in the POS price to learn about total food and beverage costs and manage profits. Each time a price changes, the reports are updated to tell you more about your business.
Another reliability feature you need to consider is a POS with cloud backups. Not just nightly, not just hourly, but constant backups that ensure the safety and security of your data. If your iPad battery dies from working too hard, just grab a backup and pick up where you left off! All your orders, sales, and inventory counts are still there.

If you use ‘Square’ as your credit card acceptance service, the Square Stand takes you to the next level of professionalism. It is especially useful for your store location, or if you set up a kiosk for the day at a local event. The device itself is quite heavy in order to keep the unit stable while you use it and when the client signs it.
When you run a concession stand you’re always dealing with inventory that can spoil or needs to be donated after a specific time period. InfoTouch POS software for Concession Stands has an Inventory Quantity Adjustment feature to remove spoiled or stale items from stock or to donate product right before the expiration so it is still able to be consumed.

While snack bars and burger stands remain an indelible part of the American landscape, a new kind of food experience is emerging. Kiosks inside malls and other large venues have emerged as a modernized version of the traditional food cart. And in cities, small spaces are being converted to chic yet cozy outdoor eateries specializing in experimental or fusion fare that caters to the upscale tastes of downtown office-workers

Weighing in at 5lbs 13oz and with dimensions of 6 inches wide and 5 inches deep, the Bouncepad Flip is one of the larger designs on the market. As well as freestanding use, it can be attached to the counter top using a 4-screw system, securing it against theft. As the name suggests, the design allows the iPad to be ‘flipped’ over for easy customer use, making it a popular choice in many retail outlets.
ShopKeep does not require internet access to accept transactions, so you can keep going even if you’re parked in the middle of nowhere. Conveniently, reporting (which tracks everything from low inventory to your top-selling menu items to the times of day business is best) is actually cloud-based, which means you can check it anywhere. Considering the typically cramped environment of a food truck, it’s nice to know that you don’t necessarily have analyze your data there! ShopKeep may be inexpensive, but it has an amazing array of features, including gift card integration, digital and traditional tip options, the ability to print, email, and/or customize receipts, and a large selection of modifiers. Like any good food truck POS, ShopKeep also allows you to change tax rates based on your location.
For some people, the complexity of a POS system can be intimidating. Perhaps that is why food truck owners have spent $50 million to date with Square (see our review). Square is a simple mobile payment processing solution which allows your to take orders from customers at your window or in line (or online) using just an iOS or Android device. You just download the Square register app and then you can start to accept payments, figure out taxes and tips, and even gain access to a few real-time analytics. The best part of Square is the price: a $0 monthly fee and just 2.75% for swiped/online/invoice transactions and 3.15% + $0.15 for keyed-in transactions. You do have to pay a little extra if you want a stand for your device, a chip card reader, the ability to create gift cards, and other things along those lines, but the prices are reasonable.

Limited prep space introduces challenges related to what types of food are suitable for your food truck to serve. Your choice is to either prep extensively before heading out or serve foods that require very little prep. Additionally, you have costs associated with the need to pay for an additional site to prep food.
Fixed a bug in the “Cancel” transaction function. Now the last set of HotKeys displayed are removed properly, clearing the screen for the next transaction. Prior to the fix, selecting an old HotKey, without first selecting a new Category, would cause the next transaction to not total and the Total display would at $0.00.
It helps me focus on the important thing: my clients. With the Shopify POS iPad app, I have all my stock at my fingertips, and I can take orders from anywhere. This is what retail looks like in the 21st century.
This is a business app and not a toy as one reviewer was wondering. If you have a mobile business or use your ipad as a register, you can buy a swiper for credit cards and attach it. It can I believe also be hooked up to a receipt printer as well. It will email the receipt to your customer. I enjoyed it, it can be extremely valuable for those who need to give receipts and is a good tool for keeping track of inventory. Hope this helps!
Like Revel, TouchBistro (see our review) is an iPad-based POS solution, and it has been created specifically with food trucks in mind (as well as bars, restaurants, cafes, and other food service facilities). Currently, TouchBistro is the Apple App Store’s number one grossing food and drink application in over 28 countries, and for good reason. This software is feature-rich, easy-to-use, and ideally designed for owners of food trucks. Plans for TouchBistro start at $69/month for one license and go up to $129/month for two, though it’s highly unlikely that a food truck would need more than two licenses, as TouchBistro allows for an unlimited number of users (unlimited licenses top off at $399/month). All plans come with 24/7 customer support and free product updates.

ShopKeep (see our review) is a favorite here at Merchant Maverick and one of the cheapest options around; for food truckers looking for a full-featured POS system, it’s hard to beat $49/month/register. This price includes 24/7 support and 60 days of personal training from a ShopKeep expert, as well as a free, Free ShopKeep Pocket™ iOS app and access to real-time analytics. The initial cost of buying hardware, of course, is not included in the monthly subscription fee for any POS software, though if you’re starting out from scratch it does pay to purchase a hardware bundle from the vendor (see more tips about choosing hardware here).
The iPad can also be mounted and locked to the stand keeping it safe and secure. The only real negative is that your iPad needs to be attached to the mounting plate via adhesive which is tricky to remove should you need to. However, this makes it compatible with any size and variety of iPad you may have.
