The amount of time the paper lasts in your printer depends on your sales. If you’re making hundreds of sales per day then you’ll be replacing the roll of paper a couple times a month. That’s not bad. Paper rolls for your printer are pretty cheap.
Clover and Square both offer similar additional accessories to accompany their systems. From bar code scanners to additional printers, both of these POS systems allow users to expand the system to meet the demands of their business.
Both PayPal Here and Square have options for taking payments beyond the basic card reader, including chip card readers and NFC payment readers. Square has a chip and magnetic stripe card reader, which resembles the basic card reader and also connects via the headphone jack, available from their website for $29. Square also offers a Bluetooth NFC and chip card reader, which is available from their website (and some retail locations) for $49 or with an optional charging dock for another $29. PayPal Here offers a mobile Bluetooth NFC and chip card reader, with pin pad, available from their website for $79.
This printer is fast. Thermal printers print very fast, and the internals are actually much simpler than the ones at my work. You simply open it up, drop the paper inside (yes, it’s a drop in, which makes it much easier to replace the roll once it has run out) and then feed the paper over the top.
It supports 58mm width thermal paper printing, with high printing speed, clear printing & low noise. Power saving for long time use. You can connect your devices with the printer via BT 4.0 & 3.0, USB…

Printouts created using POS printers may include the business name, contact number, and address. This it easy for shoppers to remember where they bought items and return there for similar goods, providing an excellent marketing opportunity. Many POS printers also offer reverse-side printing, letting you add coupons or valuable tips and store policies to the back of each receipt.

A printer-driven cash drawer must be connected to an receipt printer to open automatically. Otherwise you’ll need to manually open the drawer using the cash drawer key. A USB cash drawer (requires Square Stand) will open automatically when connected.
If you are connecting to a Windows PC, you can go into the Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Ports and determine if the port is functioning and the port number matches with the setup of your software.

To adjust to front load and top load, you take the two covers off, and then you switch it. One of the sides has little rubber feet, so if you move that. And then you replace the second cover, now you’re in a top load version.

@bkfconsulting – Welcome to the Seller Community, and kudos on your first post! 👏 As for your question, I’m afraid I may not have the best of news. I think for things to function the way you want, you would need to use Square Stands with full-sized iPads and USB printers (unless you’re willing to concede using automated cash drawers). It really depends on how much that functionality is worth to you. If it’s not that important, you could just pick up a few bluetooth printers and pair them to the iPad Minis for printing receipts.
So you’re looking to run your business with an iPad and you’re heard that Square is a great way to do it. The good news is that you’re right, Square is a fantastic app for running all kinds of businesses and what makes it even better is that it’s free. However, the iPad on the counter is just the tip of the iceberg. When you look below the surface there’s a whole lot more going on. Dive a little deeper and check it out.
A Square Stand on the counter is a thing of beauty. Its design is elegant, sophisticated, and efficient, plus it’s got some pretty cool features that make it even better. For starters its got a built in reader so you don’t have to plug anything else into the iPad to take a credit card payment. Just dock the iPad to the stand, plug it all in, secure it and you’re ready to go. And speaking of good looking, what you put into that stand isn’t all that bad either, we won’t waste any more time going on and on about how well designed the iPad actually is, you know it already…in fact its probably one of the reasons you want one on your counter. You’re going to look better than most of the businesses on the block.

These printers aesthetically match up really well with a mobile type of set up. So if you’re using an iPad, a Surface tablet, you have a small stand and you’re using a very compact set-up with a very small cash drawer, then these are kind of designed to meet that look, and are very space-saving. The LED lights are also changed from like a traditional green to being a glowing blue, so much more modern looking receipt printers than you see traditionally. Interface-wise, these both have USB. They’re also available with Bluetooth or Ethernet, and then NFC is also in an available connection, at least coming soon to them.
Just wanted to update this thread with a solution I came across that could work for your multi-page print issue. When you are at your print preview page, there should be a Scale option available (it’s hiding under “More Settings” on Chrome/”More Details” on Safari or Firefox). Reducing the Scale below 100 will reduce the size of the image and you can keep lowering it until it reaches the size you’re looking for.
PayPal Here and Square have fairly similar hardware setup. The main difference between the two is PayPal Here uses the device camera as a built in barcode scanner. To use a barcode scanner with Square, you need to purchase an external Bluetooth scanner. For more information on compatible hardware, see our PayPal Here Basics Article or Square Basics article. Square also offers the Square Stand, a stand with a built-in magnetic stripe card reader and USB hub.

I ended up buying an iPad so I could print receipts and keep track of sales using the square register app. However I believe like most of you said, no one will really ever ask for a receipt for a shaved ice! Oh well. At least I can check this forum while I’m waiting for customers to come by!
The bottom line is, if you’re planning on using Square with hardware (at least a receipt printer or scanner) and you’re looking to save some money or want a simple setup process, the Square Stand is a good option. Just keep in mind that if you buy USB hardware, it will likely only work with the Square Stand.
