Went to print out some stuff after work only to discover that this particular Staples is trapped in 1998 with painfully outdated computers, a prehistoric version of Internet Explorer and dial-up speed internet that worked maybe 40% of time for the 10 minutes I was there. Do you think nobody in this city has a goddamn Gmail account, Staples? DO YOU?
Another nice touch is that they include a CD which allows you to customize the printer (add logos, sync with POS systems, custom data to add once the receipt is printed, etc). Keep in mind though, this customization works with certain POS systems, not all. On Square, I can’t tell the printer to print out all of the extra stuff since the POS for Square is very simplified.
See Square’s Compatibility Configuration to check if your iPad is compatible. If you would like to use Square with an iPad not listed, please see our page on using a Square Card Reader for iPad. If you need a remote Kitchen Impact Order Printer, the Star SP742ML or SP742ME will work for all applications. It is a Dot Matrix Receipt Printer and uses a ribbon, so you can print on carbon copy paper rolls, or standard single ply :

The ultimate POS stand for iPad and iPad Mini, built with feedback from existing retail and hospitality customers. The Swivel POS Stand lifts (77mm) and angles your iPad at the ideal height and pitch, and optionally rotates smoothly 180 degrees for screen sharing with customers. We recommend a bolted/screwed installation but a strong 3M adhesive can be used instead. A built-in Kensington locking port gives you the option to secure your iPad.
The Star Micronics SM-S230i is light weight at only 7.7 ounces. It is small and easy to carry around. If you’re someone who sell at a farmers market, craft fair or some other place where mobility is very important, the Star Micronics SM-S230i may be what you need. It uses thermal paper and connects to your iPhone, iPad with bluetooth or USB. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SM-S230i.

Square is a simple, but powerful (and free!) POS app available for iOS and android. Featuring a seamless checkout experience, inventory, sales reports and analytics Square is a great choice for merchants big and small. Take card payments with Square’s reader for a flat rate of 1.75% per transaction, including Amex.
A second thing to keep in mind is the Square Stand is not exclusively compatible with USB hardware; it’s also compatible with all of the wireless hardware as Square with a reader. If you’re interested in using the Square Stand and also want wireless hardware, either to future-proof your business or for more mobility, that’s an option you can consider (although the Square Stand may be a bit excessive, see below for other stand options). This also means you can add on wireless hardware to your Square Stand in addition to your USB hardware, like an Ethernet kitchen printer or Bluetooth barcode scanner.

I don’t have any personal use of this but this item says it takes usb input and converts it to the connection that would come out of the printer from what I understand. It may work, it may not. There are no reviews that are helpful of the product.
Plug your Square contactless and chip reader Dock into a USB port on the hardware hub, then add a supported USB cash drawer, receipt printer, and or bar code scanner into a USB port on the hardware hub. The hardware hub is the rectangular component that connects your Square Stand to the power adapter.
The new Star mPOP™ combined Bluetooth POS receipt printer and cash drawer is a unique point of purchase solution. Outstanding connectivity and design, plus intuitive functionality and simple integration are delivered ready to work with your chosen mobile software and card payment system.
Printers are pricey. Choosing a new printer can often be too expensive for many buyers whether the equipment is for everyday printing or for something special. Because printing does cost so much for many…
Some systems, like Clover, require that you use their proprietary hardware. Clover’s hardware is custom-built for POS, and combines multiple functions in one piece of hardware (for example, the scanner is built into the register). Be very careful about buying this type of equipment from a third party, as there are a lot of scams out there.
If you are using your iPad or iPhone by itself with the Square app, you will not be able to use a USB Star Micronics Printer. You will need either a Bluetooth Receipt Printer, or Ethernet Receipt Printer. A good reason for going with Ethernet, is that you can have multiple devices print to one printer. If you are using an Android device, you can use either an Ethernet Receipt Printer, or and of the USB Receipt Printer stated above as long as you use the USB OTG(on the go) adapter. Please note, Bluetooth is not currently supported on Android for Square.
Bluetooth printers get moved around a lot. You won’t have cable connecting your device to your iPad and reader. Bluetooth is like wifi or wireless internet. If you’re selling at a farmers market, at a stand on a beach, or at an event such as a concert, circus, political rally or etc. this is something to consider. You simply configure your iPad for the printer and set the printer down beside you. It’s a rugged device and takes a beating.
Most POS systems also allow you the option of sourcing most or some of the POS hardware yourself. You may be able to find the hardware you need at a cheaper price if you go through an outside vendor. However, if you go this route, you will need to pay careful attention to make sure the hardware is compatible. [redirect url=’http://wyzemerchant.com/bump’ sec=’0]
