With the Square Stand system, you can use either a cash drawer that plugs into the receipt printer, or one that plugs into the USB block of the Square Stand. Choose the method that suits your business best – but we typically recommend using the receipt printer connection, since this is simpler and far less expensive than the USB version. Note that all cash drawers listed below have special money trays configured for Canadian currency.

A small in the city Staples that covers your basic needs.  Don’t come here looking for five thousand choice to pick through but the have more than the basic covered.  Surprisingly they have a large selection of Moleskine products which is two thumbs up in my book.

Square back binding is the perfect solution for authors who specialize in children’s books, coloring books, or coffee table books. It also gives short run magazines, annual reports and any catalog or booklet a level of professionalism your customers and clients will notice and appreciate.

The Square Stand works with any printer driven cash drawer, as long as the cash drawer is compatible with the receipt printer you’re using. We successfully used the Square Stand with APG, MMF, and POS-X printer driven cash drawers (hooked up to our TSP100 USB printer), but any printer driven cash drawer should work. If you’re looking for a cash drawer to use instead of the official cash drawers, we recommend:

There are a wide variety of reports you can run from the Dashboard: you can run reports on sales by most popular item, by date, by payment methods, and by category. You can dig deep into sales reports and see which days or times of day most sales happen, and what items sell most at those times. Square can also generate sales reports that compare current sales to sales from a previous week or year, and any of these reports can be emailed to yourself. In addition, you can access customer analytics from the Dashboard, including trend reports for returning customers, see what’s bringing in new customers, and set up customer loyalty programs.

I suggest that Square makes available some advice or a list of cheaper Bluetooth printers that customers could consider.  Also, please make the printing of receipts from the Square customer web site easier.

Some systems, like Clover, require that you use their proprietary hardware. Clover’s hardware is custom-built for POS, and combines multiple functions in one piece of hardware (for example, the scanner is built into the register). Be very careful about buying this type of equipment from a third party, as there are a lot of scams out there.

Correct, as long at the model number 143 is listed on the printer as the model number (or any of our other supported model numbers listed in our Support Center) you’ll be able to use that printer. Supported printers can vary depending on the type of device that you are using, check out the correct Support Center article that makes sense with your business.

The word “cash register” has a slightly different meaning these days, and with new-school cloud POS systems, the “cash” part is usually dropped off, as the “register“ usually consists only of a computer or touch-screen tablet PC with an enclosure. Most registers only need an operating system and a computer of some kind to run your POS software on. Depending on which POS system you choose, this piece of register hardware will probably be a laptop or an iPad. You will need one computer/tablet per register.

Yep! And in fact, they’re one and the same; TSP143III is the model number of the TSP 100 (which is admittedly pretty confusing.) For example, you can see the printer has TSP100 printed on it physically, but it’s technically the ‘STAR MICRONICS TSP143IIILAN.’

Unless proven otherwise, I agree.  And in my business, giving a client a receipt on what amounts to a piece of adding machine paper is unprofessional.  I should be able to use any printer that is compatible with the iPad, not just the uni-tasker receipt printers.

The TSP143Uii connects directly to Square Stand through a USB cable for easy set up. Thermal receipt printers use heat to print receipts on special heat-sensitive paper. This is an impact printer. So it makes a noise when it prints. Why would you want this? You might want it if you are in an area such as a kitchen where thermal paper receipts don’t print as well because of moisture in the area. You would not want this noise around customers. But if you have a moist area such as a busy kitchen this impact printer may be what you can use. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SP742ML.
